Why Pay An Executive Search Fee.
By: Spano Pratt Executive Search
Why do companies pay executive search fees?
With today’s access through online communities, has executive search changed and become easier? I recently heard the president of a successful organization say, “recruitment is easy, we all know where the talent is, just look on LinkedIn.”
At that moment it occurred to me the importance of distinguishing between finders’ keepers and the consultative role that knowledgeable executive recruiters play.
It’s not what you find but what you keep that counts. Raw data and lists have always been available and networking does matter. But the average search assignment requires over 100 cold calls and minimum of a dedicated twenty hour average per week of vetting.
Executive recruiters are tenacious door openers and in a sense information brokers. Most hiring managers and employers are not prepared to cold call a competitor’s top executive and tell him why he or she should leave to join your company. One Wisconsin business owner told me he’d rather get caught cheering for the Chicago Bears.
